Honiton Surgery - Practice Manager Vacancy

You will be confident and have excellent communication skills to enable you to work cohesively with your practice and Primary Care Network teams as well as care for patients.  Problem solving and adaptability will help you to navigate the NHS changing landscape.  Optimising the practice performance is an ongoing challenge so there will be plenty of variety in your role.  

Previous primary care management experience whilst desirable is not a requirement.  Transferable skills and the enthusiasm to learn on the job are equally important.

Main duties of the job

The Practice Manager is a pivotal member of the organisation and will be expected to support the team in achieving goals and targets, using a combination of personal involvement, motivation of other staff and delegation where appropriate. The partners are looking for a leader with strong business management skills, particularly in managing teams, HR, finances, public relations, and strategic planning. In addition to this, the Practice Manager should have experience of managing IT systems and will need to ensure compliance with appropriate legislation in areas such as GDPR and CQC.

About us

Honiton Surgery is a friendly surgery located near Honiton town centre and train station. The practice building has been extended over the years to accommodate over ninety staff focussed on delivering high quality, accessible primary care services to approximately 18,000 patients.  

By summer 2024 we will be a six partner practice, supported by a multidisciplinary clinical team including salaried GPs, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Paramedics, Health and Wellbeing Coaches and a Social Prescriber. The clinical team are superbly supported by our Deputy Manager, Finance Manager and IT/Operations Managers who oversee our reception and administrative teams.

We are the lead practice in our Primary Care Network, working closely with two neighbouring practices to deliver the additional clinical services for patients, such as the Enhanced Health in Care Homes model.

We believe that educating and developing the health care professionals of the future is of high importance, so we train University of Exeter medical students, GP registrars and student nurses. We also invest in training nurses new to practice nursing and provide nurse practitioner training.

The role is a full-time position (37 hours per week) with a pro rata salary of £50,000 - £65,000 depending on experience.
